Once I understood trust as the ability to believe I can deal with whatever happens, I gained the ability to navigate toward freedom. It's a beautiful essay, Abby. Thanks for sharing yourself in the world.
Provocative, raw and so very heartfelt- thank you for your Trust. In your own self and others! My initial summation is that lack of trust might perhaps be at the root of many wars, personal and worldly. If I could trust myself completely, that I am indeed whole and complete, my environment would reflect this wholeness!
I have a practice every morning where I remind myself that I trust myself and I am safe. Our ability to trust ourselves and our ability to feel safety in that trust is….everything! Outsourcing trust is outsourcing safety. Tell that to any other species and they would look at us like we were aliens from the natural world. I guess that’s it….we are alienating ourselves from the natural world of trust we are born into.
“Trust is fractal.” 💯

🙏💛
I'm often struck by how deeply we've normalized mistrust, to the point where people are a bit shocked and frightened when trust shows up.
Yes! And just like the kid who called the emperor naked — it takes only one person to break the spell ….
you can trust me
💯!

If only we all could — the more I see the world thru the lens of trust….the more I see the possibilities for repair (within, between and beyond us)….🙏
I loved reading this. Thank you, Abby!
Abby - thank you for your always raw, always vulnerable and always trustworthy words of wisdom you put into the world. ❤️

Great piece. Love this especially:
“The more I trust myself—not to be perfect, but to be present—the more trustworthy I become. Not because I’m right or certain, but because I’m whole.”
We cannot trust what is not true. Including ourselves
