1/ AI has the potential to make some things higher quality and cheaper. Where does society benefit the most from better/cheaper, and therefore where should we collectively invest? (Healthcare, education, housing & construction.. )
2/ why do we care about jobs in society? If the answer is purpose, dignity, and money, can we disaggregate this and create alternative socially honorable ways of finding purpose, feeling dignified, and having sufficient money?
This is so very thought-provoking! I myself just graduated college and have been reflecting on how all my life I have been chasing societal standards of success without pausing to ask 'why' 'where is it leading me?' 'what does success look like for me?' 'what animates me?' instead of what is the next step/job/goal/ milestone. Your posts always inspire students like me so much and reassure us that questioning, reflecting and unlearning is such an important part of the process, too- even if it makes us extremely uncomfortable to uncover our own truth.
Do you mind if I feature this essay on a student magazine that I run with your name and credits as the author (Empower Magazine- https://www.instagram.com/at.empower )
I think so many other young people and students would benefit from your perspectives!
Honestly the main question I'm asking right now is "what am I doing wrong?" I'm working hard towards my next goal and nothing seems to be breaking through, but no matter how much I work I cannot seem to find out what I'm missing.
I know this one all too well. Hearing it from you, I can't help but wonder whether there's a more animated/inspired twist here that's less hard on your sweet self. Like, What would a breakthrough feel like? What if it were easy? And what can I start/stop doing to get there?
Maybe? The thing is, I know exactly what I want -- the path to how to get it just feels confusing and dark. I just wish I could unlock the knowledge and strategy that would allow me to focus on getting there.
Top of mind for me:

I love these Christina! Have been thinking a lot about these ideas too — have felt AI become a solution in search of problems to solve without the step back of what it’s best suited to solve….and what this all means about the purpose of human work. Shared some related thoughts here - I loved Tristan Harris / Michael Sandel convo on this: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/abbyfalik_money-happiness-success-activity-7348855999354556416-hC0X?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_ios&rcm=ACoAAACkYKMBjnRqPIr10PubiM1JxJWFFvIHHB8
A question I like to ask is “What do you want people to say about you when you’re gone?”

I am enthralled by this approach! In the midst of many profound difficulties, my own daughter is beginning her senior year of hs.
When are you accepting applicants to the Flight School?
